Southampton road cyclist Jonathan Dibben took 6th place at the UCI Road World Championships men’s under 23 time trial in Spain on his international return from a broken elbow.
Dibben was forced to withdraw from the England team at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow in summer due to the injury.
But he recovered in time to take an impressive 6th in torrid conditions at the event in Ponferrada, in the north west of Spain.
The 20-year-old clung on second place for some time, but in the end slipped down the rankings.
His team-mate Scott Davies finished in 24th place.
