WINCHESTER City have confirmed the capture of wide man/striker Charlie Smeeton from Newport IoW.
The Island-based attacker is already well known to the Denplan City Ground faithful, having been part of Winchester’s Sydenhams Premier title-winning success of 2011/12.
He recently made a big impression playing against City as a substitute, helping Newport turn a 3-0 deficit into a 3-3 draw in the FA Cup at Abbotts Barton.
Provided the formalities are completed in time, Winchester hope to have Smeeton available for tomorrow’s (Wednesday's) league game at Brockenhurst.
Meanwhile, former Winchester striker Lerone 'Rudy' Plummer has signed for Whitchurch United from Fareham Town.
Plummer, who has also played for Eastleigh reserves, QK Southampton and Brockenhurst, will be part of the Jam Boys' squad for tonight's trip to Alresford.
