Romsey have some Hampshire/Surrey Regional Division 2 points on the board – at the third attempt.

They burgled the Bank of England 3-0 in the plush Roehampton surroundings, though the rich pickings weren’t as straight-forward as the score-line might suggest.

Romsey had to soak up sustained first half pressure, with goalkeeper Lozz Scott having to produce a string of fine saves.

Despite losing their discipline – they were twice reduced to ten men through yellow cards – Romsey snatched the lead with a counter-attack – Tom McCarthy’s aerial pass allowing Martin Simpson-Scott to set up Lewis Birch to score off the post.

The goal clearly settled Romsey, who doubled their lead through Jack Forrest-Charde and clinched the victory with a third goal from Birch.
