Southampton’s Jon Dibben is celebrating his first senior international cycling gold medal.

The 20-year-old helped Great Britain win the team pursuit title in the European Track Championships in Guadeloupe.

Alongside Ed Clancy, Owain Doull and Andy Tennant, Dibben helped GB beat Germany’s men by almost a second.

Dibben also underlined his growing reputation by claiming a silver medal in the omnium individual event.

Italian Elia Viviani, who is about to sign for Team Sky, won omnium gold.

It was a good way for the Manchester-based youngster to bounce back after he missed the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow through injury.

Dibben had previously won a bronze medal for GB in the 2013 Track World Cup event in Mexico.

In 2012 he won a silver in the omnium in the Junior Track World Championships in New Zealand.

Competing in the Junior European Track Championships in the same year in Portugal, Dibben won bronze in both the omnium and the individual pursuit.

Twelve months earlier, in 2011, he had won gold in both individual pursuit and team pursuit.
