Ronald Koeman was delighted that Sadio Mane finally got his first goal for Saints.

The Senegal midfielder had what he thought was his first strike for the club, scored in the rout over Sunderland, chalked off by the dubious goals panel last week.

But he scored the winner against Stoke this afternoon with a goal that cannot be givne to anyone else.

“He wasn’t (upset),” said Koeman of having to break the news to Mane.

“I heard it yesterday and I explained to Mane and his reaction was ‘OK’ and maybe that was the reason to come to the bench and to say ‘this one they will not take it away again.’

“He had a great performance - he’s fast, he’s a good player but his defending attitude is important for the team.”
