LUKE Musselwhite struck twice in the second half to ensure AFC Stoneham moved into the semi-finals of the Puma Engineering League Cup at the expense of Lyndhurst.

Visitors Stoneham won the tie 5-2 after Andy Trodd gave the home side an early lead. Callum Pragnell levelled, then Musselwhite scored the second early in the second half, but Andy Longland equalised immediately.

Musselwhite’s second gave Stoneham the advantage, and an own goal on 80 minutes stretched their lead before Melvin Rogers put the result well beyond doubt in injury time.

At Overton United, Danny Houseman gave the hosts the lead on 27 minutes, but visitors Baffins Milton Rovers struck back through Blu Boam, Tyler Moret and Shane Cornish to clinch their semi-final slot.

Winchester Castle are the other side to progress after beating Liphook United 4-1 at home. Callum Holloway and Liam Nancholas gave the hosts a half-time lead, and though Steve Harding gave Liphook hope with a 49th minute penalty, goals from Ali Badcock and Dean Higgins made it comfortable for the home side.

The other quarter-final, between Cadnam United and Clanfield, was postponed and will now be played on January 10.

Another quarter-final casualty was the Combination Cup tie between the reserve sides of Fleetlands and Hamble Club, which has been rearranged for January 3. The other cup matches all went to the home sides as Hedge End Rangers beat Headley United 4-2, Liphook United won 3-1 against Liss Athletic, and Paulsgrove were 2-0 victors over Overton.

In the Premier Division, Hamble Club took advantage of Baffins Milton Rovers cup interest to cut their lead at the top to four points, as they beat Hedge End Rangers 2-0. Ricky Bull and Danny Cox were the scorers for Hamble.

Stockbridge gave their goal difference a boost with a 7-1 win over Paulsgrove. Ashley Child hit a hat-trick and Jazz Beavis netted a brace, with Danny Field and Jack Hutchings also on the scoresheet. Sammy Kessack hit Paulsgrove’s consolation.

Stockbridge remain two points behind fifth-placed Otterbourne, who won away at bottom side Locks Heath thanks to the only goal of the game, by Luke Pothecary.

Elsewhere there were 3-0 wins for Colden Common against Bush Hill, and QK Southampton against Liss Athletic. Aiden Reed, Harry Barrett and Harrison Moore were on the mark for Colden Common, while Craig Johnston, Kevin Betlam and Babucarr Bojang scored for QK.

In Division One, Four Marks beat Michelmersh and Timsbury 6-1, while Infinity and Broughton battled to a 3-3 draw.
