BOWLS: Banister Park’s bid to win the Palmerston Cup for a fourth successive time has been derailed.
Eastleigh Railway beat them 60-40 to celebrate their competition debut with a cup final meeting with Lockswood in Fareham on Sunday evening at 6pm.
The Railwaymen steamed ahead from the start and substantially extended their 40-35 lead after 12 ends.
In the other semi-final, Lockswood and Hampshire Police were level 15-15 after 17 ends, but the Locks Heath team won the next crucial match and emerged 52-47 winners.
The Police and Banister Park will now contest the third and fourth place play-off.
