SAINTS have slipped to sixth in the Premier League table after Liverpool's 2-0 victory over Burnley tonight allowed them to once again leapfrog Ronald Koeman's side.
And Mauricio Pochettino's Tottenham Hotspur are just two points behind his former club with a game in hand after they beat Swansea 3-2.
It was a disappointing night for Saints, despite their win over Crystal Palace last night, as all the remaining top seven clubs picked up three points to leave the race for European places much as it was before this round of matches.
However, the victory against Crystal Palace could prove vital as it ensures the St Mary's club are keeping pace with their rivals for a spot in the Champions League or Europa League.
