BUOYANT Brockenhurst revved up for Saturday’s FA Vase meeting with Bournemouth Poppies by knocking Ken Vaughan’s men out of the Hampshire FA Senior Cup last night.

Still high on Saturday’s FA Cup triumph over Yate Town, Pat McManus’s Badgers emerged 6-2 victors at Victoria Park.

Poppies made a fight of it initially with Sami Makhloufi wiping out Elliot Richards’ Brock opener and then Robert Teppett’s free kick pulling it back to 3-2 after Jamie Betteridge and Kabba Jack had seemingly put the Badgers in control.

Brock skipper Mark Barker made it 4-2 on 71 minutes and then the Badgers ran away with it in the closing stages through Jack Burrows and Barker’s second of the night.

Brock now host Combined Counties outfit Eversley & California who upstaged Alresford Town 3-2 at Arlebury Park.

Blackfield & Langley have lined up a home tie against manager Glenn Howes’ old club Newport IoW.

The Watersiders were pushed all the way by Christchurch, but progressed 3-2 with goals from Dan Munday, Jesse Gould and Sam Lanahan.

Newport (Scott Sampson, Liam Slaven, Jimmi Burton) disposed of Blackfield’s neighbours Fawley AFC (Lewis Ross) 3-1 to book their ticket to Gang Warily.

AFC Portchester will travel to holders Gosport Borough in round two after comprehensively beating Team Solent 4-1 at Test Park. Jason Parish weighed in with a hat-trick for Graham Rix’s Royals and Alex Baldacchino got the other.

Folland Sports snuck past Fareham Town 1-0 and now head for Winchester City.

It was a horrible night in Hamble for Fareham who had George Davis and Luke Heard sent off and lost midfielder Adam Fisher in the first half with a suspected broken leg.

Dual-signed Winchester midfielder Liam Gilbert scored twice in Andover Town’s 5-0 beating of New Milton, joining Gunner Yates, Lewis Benson and Sam Pekun on the scoresheet. Neil Benson’s men are now away to Totton & Eling.

Gary Austin sank a hat-trick as Horndean disposed of ten-man Alton Town 5-2 to earn a visit from Fleet Spurs.

Tadley Calleva and Cove both progressed courtesy of penalty shootouts against Harley Wintney and Cowes Sports respectively. Tadley now host Aldershot Town, while Cove go to Eastleigh.
