HAMPSHIRE rugby star Mike Brown has apologised on behalf of the England side after they crashed out of the Rugby World Cup.
Tournament hosts England were beaten 13-33 in the crucial Pool A game, a result which saw them eliminated from the tournament.
Southampton-born Brown, who went to Peter Symonds College, said the team felt they had let the country down and thanked the home fans for their support.
In a statement released on Twitter, he said: "We feel we have let the country down and for that I am sorry.
"Your support has been incredible and you deserved better from us. We know there will be criticism and we will take it on the chin. But please know, to a man, we have given everything in preparation and in the games."
