BLACKFIELD & Langley hit six goals for the second weekend running to power through to the FA Vase first round proper.

Beating Sydenhams One side Ringwood Town 6-2 wasn’t quite as dramatic as the previous week’s 6-1 mauling of Southern League Wimborne in the FA Cup, but it was plenty good enough to earn them a trip to Plymouth Parkway of the South West Peninsula League on October 31.

“It was highly unlikely we were ever going to reach the highs of the previous week,” admitted co-assistant boss Chris Farrell.

“To be fair to Ringwood, they worked hard and kept at it. We played okay and largely controlled the game.”

An own goal and a Dan Munday brace put B&L 3-1 up at the break. Rico Wilson scored a screamer and Miguel Laborda made it 5-1.

Ringwood struck again before Liam Robinson scored the goal of the game, picking up possession on the halfway line, advancing to 25 yards out, cutting inside and smashing the ball into the top corner.

Looking ahead to the Plymouth Parkway tie, Farrell said: “It’s a tough draw. I went there with Hamworthy United a few years ago and it’s a good club. But we’ll be prepared and we’ll look into an overnight stop to give ourselves the best opportunity to win the game.

“We’re taking the FA Vase as seriously as anybody else.”

Blackfield - currently seventh in the Sydenhams Premier - have a big FA Cup third qualifying round tie at home to Maidenhead United on Saturday, but they have league matters to attend to beforehand when Verwood Town visit tomorrow night (Tuesday).

Sam Lanahan is still out, but standing by for his debut is former Wimborne Town forward/wideman Jamie Davidson, signed from Poole Town.

“Jamie is cup-tied for Saturday, but there’s a good chance he’ll play tonight,” said Farrell. “We haven’t played a league game for a while and this one’s more important than the Maidenhead game because we’re not going to win the FA Cup.”
