DUSAN Tadic is part of the Serbia squad that has travelled to Albania for tonight’s Euro 2016 qualifier (7.45pm), with the countries meeting for the first time since the controversial abandonment of last year’s fixture in Belgrade.

That contest was called off amid chaotic and violent scenes, after a drone flying an Albanian nationalist flag was flown into the ground, prompting a brawl among players and a pitch invasion.

There have long been political tensions between the two countries, who were at odds over the independence of Serbia’s former Kosovo province.

Albania were eventually awarded a 3-0 win, with Serbia being deducted three points.

Tadic’s team have not recovered from that, currently sitting bottom of Group I on one point, with their qualification hopes long since having disappeared.

They will no doubt still be desperate to secure victory in Elbasan and dent the qualification hopes of Albania, who are third in the table, one point behind second-placed Denmark, but with one game in hand.

“We are immensely motivated to show that we are better than our standings show,” said Serbian defender Nenad Tomovic.

“Due to our bitter rivalry, we also want to make it difficult for them to qualify for Euro 2016.”

Police in Albania have this week arrested a man who is claimed to have been flying the drone at last October’s infamous match.

They have also taken tough security measures for the game, with more than 2,000 officers being deployed.
