THE search for Saints most attractive fans is over.

Dozens of Saints fans young and old have, in the last fortnight, donned their supporters’ shirts and been pictured in a variety of locations and poses in the hope of making an impression.

The Daily Echo launched its competition to find the best looking male and female Saints fan after a survey revealed that Southampton had the second most attractive footie fans in the Premier League.

People had the chance to vote for their favourite chap, favourite Saints lady or couple, family or group to determine the winners.

The title for most attractive woman went to Shona Brooks, who admitted until recently she would not even pose for a photograph.

Thirty-two-year-old Shona discovered she had been nominated by friend Karen Walker who she had sent a selfie to the Echo.

Karen, 36, of St Mary’s, said: “We have been doing Slimming World together so I just wanted to make her aware of how good she’s looking.”

Shona, a boatyard supervisor of South East Road, Sholing, has lost four stone since June, which she said had already given her more confidence.

“It’s a nice surprise and a confidence boost,” she said of winning.

Daily Echo:

“It’s reaffirmed everything I’m doing.”

Originally from Swindon, season ticket holder Shona became a Saints supporter after moving to study at Solent University 13 years ago and has even managed to convert her father Graham, a former Manchester United fan.

The Itchen stand fan joked: “I will wear the honour with pride.”

Lifelong Saints fan James Head, normally found in the Itchen stand, has come out on top as the most attractive male fan, with a picture taken at a pre-season friendly match at Feyenoord’s stadium in Holland in the summer.

He keeps fit playing football with a six-aside team and coaching the under 18s at Bournemouth Poppies and under 8s at Everton Youth.

Daily Echo:

“I’m a bit shocked because mum only put me in for a joke,” he said. “It’s flattering really because I don’t see myself as attractive.”

Southampton mother and daughter Patsy and Natasha Miller are celebrating after they were named the most attractive group.

Natasha, 22, a lance corporal in the Royal Electrical Mechanical Engineers in Reading who returns home at weekends and shop assistant Patsy, 42, of Millbrook, submitted their picture taken with Sammy Saint.

They were snapped doing a zip wire challenge at St Mary’s Stadium. They are both long-term Saints supporters after Patsy was taken to her first game aged eight.

Winners will receive match day tickets and a meal.
