HAMPSHIRE will begin the 2016 season against Warwickshire at The Ageas Bowl - before playing county champion Yorkshire at Headingley a week later.

Warwickshire visit in the LV County Championship from April 10-13 and Hampshire will be the opposition when Yorkshire begin their title defence.

Durham entertain Somerset and Nottinghamshire welcome newly-promoted Surrey.

Middlesex, who finished runners-up to Yorkshire last season, also have to wait until April 17 to start their championship campaign when Warwickshire visit Lord’s.

Lancashire, back in the top flight after a one-year absence, also make a belated start to the season against Nottinghamshire at Trent Bridge.

Danny Briggs will get an early indication of how much Championship cricket he will play this year when Sussex begin life back in division two at Northamptonshire.

Hampshire do not play on the opening night of the Natwest T20 Blast. They begin their campaign a week later against Middlesex at Uxbridge on Friday, May 27.

James Vince's side begins its Royal London One-Day Cup campaign at home to Essex on Sunday, June 5.
