FRASER Forster will link-up with England for the first time since his comeback from long-term injury today.

Ryan Bertrand is another Saints man who will be travelling to St George’s Park for a team meeting as the Three Lions begin preparations for Euro 2016.

Goalkeeper Forster has been in impressive form, keeping five successive clean sheets for Ronald Koeman’s side since his return from a ruptured patellar tendon.

He will be very much in the thoughts of England boss Roy Hodgson ahead of the tournament in France this summer.

The get-together, at the national team’s Staffordshire headquarters, is in part a debrief from the last time England played in November.

But it has been organised with the summer’s Euros in mind and ahead of friendlies against the Netherlands and world champions Germany next month.

Hodgson’s will gather all 30 players that were selected for England’s ten internationals in 2015, but the total number is to swell to around 40, with some players receiving invitations despite not appearing.

Forster is one, having played last in a 3-1 win over Scotland in November 2014. He has three caps in total.

Former Saints men Luke Shaw, who is currently recovering from a broken leg, Adam Lallana and Nathaniel Clyne are among those that will be in attendance.

While Forster revealed recently that playing for England wasn’t on his mind, Bertrand, who has seven caps, is very much in contention for a place at the Euros.

He has competed with Arsenal’s Kieran Gibbs in recent times, having alternated in the left-back berth over the last four matches.

“It’s important to consistent performances at club level and hopefully when the time comes for the manager to announce the squad, I hope I’m in the selection,” said Bertrand.

He added: “It’s a bad time. We’ve had years of needing left-backs and now we’ve got four or five top class ones, so that’s only good for the nation. Whoever’s in best form will naturally play.

“First and foremost it’s do with the club but also making sure you’re being effective and consistent in your individual performance too.”
