LEE Burch is back in football as manager of Women’s Super League (WSL) outfit Millwall Lionesses.

Burch, former manager of Hythe & Dibden, was most recently head coach at AFC Totton in the Southern One South & West.

He left Testwood Park in early May after one season with the Stags and will now put his coaching skills to good use helping the Lionesses out of trouble in the WSL2, where they sit second to bottom.

Burch, who has previously worked as an FA skills coach, spent seven years on the south coast working within Southampton and Hampshire’s Centre of Excellence, developing female players for the elite pathway.

He holds the UEFA A Licence, FA Youth Award and UEFA B goalkeeper qualification.

"I'm absolutely delighted to be joining Millwall Lionesses,” he said.

"It was a job that I was interested in from the moment I saw it.

"I had already been to watch the team play Bristol City a few weeks ago and was impressed with their performance, attitude and the whole set-up.

"The objectives are clear - to start to get the results and points on the board that the performances have warranted.

"The players and staff have remained positive and now we must get those rewards."

Neil Cassar, Hampshire FA's CEO, tweeted: "Great to hear @burchy9 appointment as first team manager of @millwalllioness - proof that hard work and drive will pay off."
