EX-SAINT Leandre Griffit has labelled potential St Mary's record signing Sofiane Boufal better than Leicester City's Premier League winning star Riyad Mahrez.
Lille attacking midfielder Boufal is set to become Saints' most expensive purchase in history with a deal worth more than £20m ready to be struck. Griffit, who was at St Mary's between 2003 and 2005, reckons the 22-year-old will be amazing for Saints.
The Frenchman also made a comparison with Mahrez who also came to England from the French ranks and has since lit up the Premier League.
Griffit wrote on Twitter: "Boufal at the #saintsfc Will be amazing🌟Fans you have to trust me 😉😉... better than mahrez for me @SouthamptonFC @SouthamptonFCFR"
