JOHN Pickering and Steve Lupton came away with silverware at the Mark Hooper Memorial Trophy day.
Played in memory of a much missed member of the New Forest Golf Club seniors section, this pair of trophies has a unique twist.
A stableford competition played off the blue tees, all competitors are required to use their putters for their tee shots on the 130 yard 13th hole. This is because Mark was renowned for doing just that.
The weather was very cold and overcast, however this did nothing to dampen the enthusiasm of the 35 seniors who competed.
Pickering blazed round the course finishing with 44 points to win the Mark Hooper Plate, ahead of Lupton and Chris Angell.
He also came very close to winning the nearest the pin shield, however his 140 yard putt off the 13th tee was just a tad too long, so Lupton claimed that prize with a 132 yard putt that ended up just 15 feet from the hole.
After the competition, prizes were presented by Peter Harvey, a great friend of the Hooper family.
