The fast and furious finale to transfer deadline day might be fading in the memory but this weekend gave the last-minute new boys their first chance to make an impression.

From missed sitters to starring roles, they produced a range of performances which will convince supporters that some will prove more worthy of their multi-million pound contracts than others.

Here, the Daiily Echo takes a look at how the deadline day new boys fared.

TOBY ALDERWEIRELD (Southampton): The Atletico Madrid loanee did not put a foot wrong alongside Jose Fonte and played a key role in the clean sheet as Saints eased a 4-0 win over Newcastle. 8/10.

RICKY ALVAREZ (Sunderland): Showed flashes of talent and found himself on the wrong end of some meaty challenges before being replaced by Will Buckley with 25 minutes remaining. 6.

DALEY BLIND (Manchester United): Most impressive of United's debutants in their 4-0 win over QPR. Sat at the bottom of a midfield diamond and dictated the high tempo Louis Van Gaal has demanded. 9.

GEORGE BOYD (Burnley): The Clarets' record deadline day signing from Hull was the best of a number of debutants on show at Selhurst Park and looks set for a fine future at Turf Moor. 8.

TOM CLEVERLEY (Aston Villa): Understated but assured debut from Villa's on-loan midfielder, who played his part in diligently protecting his side's lead at Anfield before he was substituted four minutes from time. 7.

KEVIN DOYLE (Crystal Palace): Replaced Fraizer Campbell for the final half hour of his new side's clash with Burnley at Selhurst Park but did not come close to breaking the deadlock. 5.

RADAMEL FALCAO (Manchester United) Made a big impact in his 23 minutes on the pitch against QPR, testing Robert Green with a long-range effort and almost snatching a goal at close-range late on. 7.

NIKO KRANJCAR (QPR): Had his moments at Old Trafford and tested David De Gea with a low shot but could do little to stop his side being over-run. 5.

JAMES McARTHUR (Crystal Palace): Typically gutsy display from the former Wigan midfielder, who came close to breaking the deadlock in the second half at Selhurst Park. 7.

LOIC REMY (Chelsea): Replaced hat-trick hero Diego Costa for the last 18 minutes at Stamford Bridge, but still found time to sweep home Chelsea's fourth after a sweet pass from Oscar. 7.

SANDRO (QPR): Looked unfit and struggled as the Hoops' midfield was completely over-run at Old Trafford, before he was forced off injured in the 74th minute. 4.

BENJAMIN STAMBOULI (Tottenham): The former Montpellier midfielder replaced Nacer Chadli with 20 minutes remaining but had few opportunities to make an impact. 5.

DANNY WELBECK (Arsenal): His Gunners debut will be remembered for his failure to finish a one-on-one with Manchester City keeper Joe Hart, but he was otherwise impressive. 7.
