A GALAXY of former Saints stars are coming out for a good cause at Eastleigh’s Silverlake Stadium this Sunday (September 28, 2pm).

Matt Le Tissier, Wayne Bridge, Jason Dodd and Gordon Watson are part of a Football All Stars team due to take on Ex-Eastleigh Stars to raise money for The Evelyn Rose Appeal.

Little Evelyn, granddaughter of former Eastleigh chairman and manager Roger Sherwood, has an incredibly rare genetic disorder which affects one in 168 million children and has spent a large part of her short life very unwell or in hospital.

The bright, little two-year-old has gone from chatting and standing to being unable to lift her head and having virtually no movement on her right side.

Intractable epilepsy has led to brain damage and, with little Evelyn having recently come out of hospital after a ten-month stay, her father Elliot has quit his job as a teacher to become her full-time carer.

Elliot and mum Debbie have no idea what the future holds for their “Warrior Princess”, but Evelyn’s condition is likely to be life-limiting and all Roger and wife Jenny want to do is to make life more bearable for their little granddaughter, her parents and brother Fergus.

There are several options available to improve their quality of life, including a mobility car with electric seat, lots of physio and adaptations to the house including ramps, lifts and accessibility to the garden.

A fund-raiser has already been held at Nick’s Restaurant in East Street, Southampton and there is a Christmas luncheon planned at the Grand Cafe on December 14.

Sunday, though, is all about the local football community coming together to support a great family fun day at the Silverlake.

Along with the main event, there will be bouncy castles, face painting, candy floss, a raffle and Evelyn Rose bracelets.

Tickets are £5 adults and £1 children with admission available on the day.

The All Stars Team also includes Darren Anderton, Paul Walsh, Mark Blake, Tommy Widdrington, Andy Cook, David Hughes, Ian Baird, Steve Guppy, Wayne Shaw, Martin Thomas, Jo Tessem, Dave Puckett, Nicky Banger and Greg Llewellyn.
