Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain reflected on his headed goal for England and admitted it was his first since scoring for Saints at Carlisle.

The St Mary’s academy product netted a deft header in the win over Scotland, his first international goal since he scored against Brazil in the Maracana last year.

It was also his first headed goal since his days in League One with Saints.

“The last time I scored a header was about four years ago - Carlisle away, for Southampton,” he said.

"It is only the second header I have scored in my career. There won't be many more. It is something I do need to improve on.

"It was an instinct finish - I just tried to help the ball on its way. I haven't seen it back so I don't know how convincing the contact looked but I definitely touched it so I am happy with that."
