Saints right back Nathaniel Clyne is being linked with a £20m January transfer window move to Manchester United, according to The Daily Star.

United boss Louis van Gaal has identified that position as a priority and the Saints defender is emerging as the top target.

United have already signed one full back from Southampton – Luke Shaw for £27m last summer.

And Clyne, who made his England debut this season, could be the next.

However, the Daily Echo understands that any deal is unlikely to happen this month.

United have also been linked with Everton’s Seamus Coleman, who was the top target when David Moyes was in charge at Old Trafford.

Ronald Koeman is ready to go back to his old club Feyenoord to sign up-and-coming Dutch centre halves Terence Kongolo and Sven van Beek in the summer, according to the Daily Mail.

Kongolo was selected by Louis van Gaal for the Holland World Cup squad and has featured 21 times in all competitions for Feyenoord this season.

Koeman is keen to sign Feyenoord defender Terence Kongolo in the summer Van Beek has made 22 appearances this season for the Dutch club, scoring twice.

The Saints boss worked with both players last season.
