SWEET sixteen.

That’s the amount of Premier League matches Saints have left in this potentially historic campaign.

And they will be very sweet sixteen indeed if they end with Ronald Koeman having masterminded one of the greatest footballing fairytales of all time.

Here, in part one of a four-part feature, we look at Saints’ remaining games.

SWANSEA (Home) Sunday, February 1

Could be a good time to play the Welsh club following the sale of top scorer Wilfried Bony.

The Ivory Coast international, Swansea’s top league marksman this season with nine goals, recently moved to Manchester City for £25m.

That has left a gaping hole in the club’s attack, and boss Garry Monk might have to delve into the transfer market to fill it.

Gylfi Sigurdsson remains at the Liberty Stadium, though, and he is certainly a key man.

He has four goals to his name and eight assists – only Cesc Fabgregas has more assists in the top flight this season.

Saints fans certainly know what Sigurdsson is capable of .. he came on as a sub for Tottenham at White Hart Lane last March and cracked in a last minute winner.

Ex-Saint Nathan Dyer remains a regular for the Swans, and has now made well over 200 league appearances for the club he first joined on loan six years ago this month.

Dyer has three Premier League goals this term, but all were scored in the first three games of the season and he is suffering a 16-game drought since then.

Ki Sung-yueng also has three league goals, but he is unlikely to figure at St Mary’s if South Korea progress to the semi finals of the Asian Cup.

Another three-goal man, winger Wayne Routledge, is definitely out through injury.

Away record: Swansea began 2014/15 with a shock 2-1 win at Old Trafford, ruining Louis Van Gaal’s competitive debut as a result.

Since then, they have only recorded one more away success in the league – 1-0 at Hull five days before Christmas.

Record v Saints: Swansea have yet to beat Saints since the latter returned to the top flight in 2012.

Indeed, Nathan Dyer’s equaliser in the 1-1 draw at St Mary’s in November of that year is the only goal the Swans have managed in five games.

Saints have won the last three games – 2-0 (home) and 1-0 (away) in 2013/14 and another 1-0 win away last September.

QPR (away) Saturday, February 8

Harry Redknapp was this week given the dreaded vote of confidence by Rangers owner Tony Fernandes.

That followed Rangers’ third home loss of the season, 2-0 to Manchester United last weekend, that left the west London club second bottom.

But they remain only four points adrift of an Everton side who are seven places higher.

Ex-Poole Town striker Charlie Austin is the Hoops’ main hope of avoiding an instant relegation back to the second tier.

He has bagged 13 of their 21 league goals so far, including a hat-trick against West Brom when QPR came from 0-2 down to win.

Austin has history against Saints – he scored League 1 winners for Swindon against them in 2009/10 and 2010/11.

He was also on target at St Mary’s when Swindon defeated holders Saints 3-0 in a JPT tie in September 2010.

Home record: Redknapp’s men have won five times in the league at Loftus Road.

They have the best home record in terms of points of any team in the bottom nine, and actually have more home points than Liverpool.

Rangers have not beaten any of the top sides, though, and are struggling because of their horrendous away record – they are still waiting for their first away point of the season.

Record v Saints: Harry Redknapp will be aiming to pull off another shock win against his former employers.

Redknapp was in charge of QPR when they won 2-1 at St Mary’s on his birthday in March 2013.

That win was unable to prevent Rangers suffering relegation.

Nigel Adkins’ men had won 3-1 at Loftus Road the previous November, a game which heralded Mark Hughes’ sacking and Redknapp’s arrival.

That remains Saints’ only top flight win at Rangers since October 1989, when Chris Nicholl’s men won 4-1.

Rod Wallace scored twice on the day Jason Dodd was handed his Saints debut.

West Ham (home) Wednesday, February 11

Along with Saints, the Hammers have been the surprise side of the Premier League season.

Last weekend’s win against Hull saw them remain only four points behind fourth placed Manchester United.

It was achieved without Diafro Sakho, a Senagalese international colleague of Saints’ Sadio Mane.

Sakho, signed for just £3.5m last summer from Metz, made a remarkable start to life in England when he scored on each of his first seven starts for the club.

Recently, Sam Allardyce has also been able to include a fit-again Andy Carroll.

The former England striker struck his fifth goal in eight league appearances against Hull.

It could be that Allardyce pairs Carroll and Sakho up front at St Mary’s, which would be a test for Saints’ incredible defence.

Away record: West Ham have won three away league games – at Palace, Burnley and West Brom.

They have only lost twice on their travels since the end of September, though – at Everton and at Chelsea.

Record v Saints: The Hammers have only won once in their last 12 league visits to Southampton – Trevor Sinclair scoring the winner in a 3-2 success in November 2000.

The last two top flight games at St Mary’s have ended honours even – 1-1 in April 2013 and 0-0 the following September.

Jos Hoovield scored the only goal when Saints last beat West Ham at home – the three points proving crucial to help Nigel Adkins’ men pip the Hammers for automatic Championship promotion in 2011/12.

Liverpool (home) Sunday February 22

An eagerly-anticipated fixture for obvious reasons.

For the first time since their departures, Rickie Lambert, Adam Lallana and Dejan Lovren could all appear at St Mary’s.

Lambert is sure to get a great reception, but the same cannot be said of the other two given the manner in which they left Saints.

Lambert scored only his second Premier League goal for the Reds in last weekend’s 2-0 win at Aston Villa.

Lallana has just recovered from injury, while Lovren has struggled for game time in recent weeks after a poor start to his life at Anfield.

Mamadou Sakho and Emre Can have both been picked ahead of the Croatian international in a new-look 3-4-3 formation.

Away record: Liverpool have won their last three away league games without conceding a goal – at Burnley, Sunderland and Villa.

Lovren has not started any of those games, and he was also absent for recent cup wins at Bournemouth and AFC Wimbledon.

Record v Saints: Luis Suarez starred as Brendan Rodgers’ men won 3-0 at St Mary’s last March – the second in a nine-game winning league streak that took the Reds to the top of the table.

Raheem Sterling and Steven Gerrard (penalty) added second half goals that helped avenge the previous season’s 3-1 loss at St Mary’s.

Liverpool have claimed six Premier League wins at Saints, while the hosts have won the same amount of times.

The last draw on the south coast was in August 2000, when Saints hit back from 0-3 down to grab a startling point.
