Hands up who remembers Marek Saganowski, one of the Saints’ most impressive loan signings of modern times?
Eight years ago today he scored the only goal in a St Mary’s victory over Ipswich. In all, he struck ten times in 12 games while on loan from French club Troyes to help George Burley’s men reach the Championship play-offs.
Saganowski might be 36 now, but he’s still playing – having netted twice in 19 Polish League top flight games for leaders Legia Warsaw in 2014/15.
The former Polish international has also scored one Europa League goal.
