Morgan Schneiderlin wants to play Champions League football next season.

The Saints midfielder has given an interview to French newspaper L'Equipe, in which he spoke about his future.

Schneiderlin is quoted as saying that it is important for him to finally start playing in Europe's elite club competition and that he has spoken to Saints officials about it.

That could still be at his current club, though, who remain in the fight for the top four.

"In August, I wanted to take a move, but the club had lost too many players to agree to sell me," he is quoted as saying.

"Since then, I have had discussions with the leaders and I want to play at the highest level. It is important at 25-years-old to finally know the Champions League.

"After the end of the season, Southampton may qualify for the Champions League and I can stay, who knows."

But Schneiderlin added: "I have no desire to be in front of my TV on Tuesday and Wednesday."
