SAINTS legend Francis Benali hit out at Roy Hodgson last night as Ryan Bertrand made his first senior England appearance since 2012.
Benali, a former Dell left back, tweeted his annoyance with Hodgson after Bertrand was restricted to just a few minutes in last night’s 1-1 friendly draw against Italy in Turin.
Feel for @ryanbertrand3 tonight. Roy Hodgson puts him on for 2 minutes!! Is he for real?????

“Feel for @ryanbertrand3 tonight. Roy Hodgson puts him on for 2 minutes!! Is he for real?” wrote Benali.
Bertrand, 25, started on the bench with Hodgson plumping to start with Arsenal’s Keiran Gibbs.
Hodgson was criticised by many Saints fans on Twitter when he announced the original squad, calling up Tottenham’s Danny Rose over Bertrand.
The former Chelsea player got his chance when both ex-Saint Luke Shaw and Rose pulled out of the squad through injury.
The two minutes Bertrand got last night marked his third cap for the national side,.
All three appearances have been as a substitute.
