THE Champions League dream is alive!

Saints are refusing to give up on their European ambitions and took another giant step towards achieving them with the 2-0 victory over Hull City on Saturday.

Possible trips across the continent were the talk of St Mary’s as fans savoured the prospect of their first European campaign since the 2003/2004 season.

With crucial matches at Stoke City and at home to Tottenham Hotspur to come over the next two weekends the Daily Echo is calling on all Saints fans to get behind the team as they bid to take the city’s name overseas.

One man who is backing them to cross the Channel next season has gone to extraordinary lengths to show the depth of his support for the club – the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean to be precise.

Saints-mad Andy Crowe showed his colours and support for the team when he posted this stunning picture of himself scuba diving while holding a Southampton flag.

It was taken off the coast of the tiny, remote island of Saint Helena, where he worked for two and a half years as a housing executive.

Despite being thousands of miles away from his beloved club on the remote island, which has little over 4,000 people, Andy managed to follow the team’s fortunes by keeping up to date with the Daily Echo.

He has thrown his weight behind the #WeMarchOn campaign as the Saints push forward for a place in Europe next season.

Andy said: “It has been fantastic, it is just a pity I have not been in there in person to enjoy it. It is beyond everyone’s dreams.

“I got fed up with reading about how our best players went in the summer. The real difference has been Ronald Koeman, he has done a great job.

“I think getting into Europe will keep Saints on the radar when it comes to overseas Saints fans.”

He has also left a legacy for Southampton FC by setting up a Saints fan club on the island.

Mr Crowe added: “I am delighted about leaving a legacy in Saint Helena of Southampton FC.

It was a fantastic two and a half years and I hope I have inspired other people to become Saints fans on the island.”

Now Andy is back in Hampshire and lives in Bishop’s Waltham and has changed his career to become an artist.

He has bought himself a half-season ticket in the Kingsland Stand and a season ticket for next term.
