Saints might have enjoyed a sensational season in the Premier League – but their players have still been overlooked in the annual PFA awards.
None of the club’s stars have been shortlisted for either the prestigious player of the year or young player of the year honours.
Instead, Chelsea duo Diego Costa and Eden Hazard, Liverpool’s Philippe Coutinho, Manchester United’s David De Gea, Tottenham’s Harry Kane and Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez are up for the main prize.
The nominees for the young player award, for which you must have been 23 or under at the start of the season, are Hazard, Kane, Coutinho, De Gea, Chelsea’s Thibaut Courtois and Liverpool’s Raheem Sterling.
Saints boast the best defence in the top flight, but that has not been good enough to get any of their players onto the shortlists.
