NEW designs have been revealed for the transformation of the Spinnaker Tower – and they will disappoint Saints fans.
The tower was to be painted red and white in a £3.5m branding deal between Portsmouth City Council and airline Emirates, with the tower to be renamed the Emirates Spinnaker Tower.
But the proposed new look sparked outrage in the city leading to a petition to drop the Saints colours from the design.
Now the city council has unveiled a new design with the tower prominently displaying blue – the colour of Portsmouth Football Club.
Council leader Donna Jones said the council “listened to the public” in coming up with the blue, gold and white design and thanked the public for their suggestions.
