SAINTS midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin has been quoted as saying his future could be sorted in the coming days.

The 25-year-old’s status at St Mary’s is uncertain, with a number of big-name clubs, including Arsenal and Manchester United, said to be interested in him.

Schneiderlin has now been quoted as telling France Bleu Alsace radio station that he hopes his future will be resolved shortly.

''The negotiations are ongoing and should be completed in the coming days, hopefully before the resumption of training next week,'' Schneiderlin is reported to have said, while speaking at a community event at his former club, RC Strasbourg.

It is understood, however, that Saints have still not received a bid for the player and that a departure is not imminent.

Schneiderlin recently indicated that he sees Champions League football as the next step for him and that, if he leaves Saints, it will be for a club competing in the competition.

He had made it clear last summer that he wanted to move, but Saints ultimately refused to sell, with the France international subsequently accepting that decision.

Despite his own desires at the time, a bid of around £10m from Tottenham – who still retain an interest – was the only offer tabled for him.

With two years still to run on his contract, and Schneiderlin having established himself as one of the top defensive midfield players in the Premier League, it will likely take a fee well in excess of £20m to convince Saints to part with him.
