SAINTS have almost doubled the amount they’ve spent on agents in the last year.

In the period between October 1, 2013 and September 30, 2014 Saints paid £2,766,444 to agents.

For the same yearly time frame between October 1, 2014 and September 30, 2015, St Mary’s shelled out £5,391,172.

That means the club have spent £2,624,728 more this season compared to last.

The main reason for that is down to the sheer amount of deals that the club have been involved in, with eight new players arriving during the last transfer window alone.

Saints spent around £35m on bolstering their squad in the summer, while there were big money deals for Morgan Schneiderlin and Nathaniel Clyne to Manchester United and Liverpool respectively going out of the club.

There were also loan deals for Filip Djuricic and Eljero Elia in January, along with the permanent signature of Ryan Bertrand from Chelsea in a £10m switch and the costly departure of Dani Osvaldo.

Eight clubs have spent more than Saints, with Liverpool leading the way, having spent £14.301,464.

Watford have spent the least by far with £1,620,229 outgoing.  AFC Bournemouth meanwhile have spent just  £2,328,862.

In total £129.86million was spent by all the Premier League clubs on agents.
