DUSAN Tadic insists that Saints will be ready to pick themselves up after successive defeats when they welcome Liverpool tomorrow in the Capital One Cup quarter final.

Ronald Koeman’s side have been beaten by Stoke and Manchester City in the Premier League in their last two games, but Tadic believes that they can bounce-back at St Mary’s.

The attacking midfielder started on the bench in the 3-1 defeat at the Etihad Stadium.

The 27-year-old came on at half-time and made a notable impact in a significantly improved second-half performance from Saints.

He is fully expected to start against the Reds, along with Jordy Clasie, who was an unused substitute on Saturday, in the tie that is considered hugely important by the club as they eye a Wembley final.

Graziano Pelle is also set to return after serving a one-game ban.

Tadic believes that Saints must quickly analyse the City defeat and refocus their attentions.

“You need to pick yourselves up,” explained Tadic.

“We need to go over the good things, the bad things [of the City defeat].

“You need to clear what was good and was not good and try to improve ourselves and that’s it.”

Koeman has expressed how important the Capital One Cup is to the club this season, with silverware high on the agenda.

Tadic has echoed his manager’s sentiments.

Indeed, Liverpool will have similar ambitions and even more so now, with new manager Jurgen Klopp targetting silverware in his first season at Anfield.

“It is a really important game for us because we want to go through to the semi-finals,” Tadic said.

“They’re a strong team, Liverpool.

“Hopefully we can show we’re a good team and I hope we show that.”

He continued: “They’re a strong team, Liverpool, with good coach and good players.

“It is going to be a hard match.

“They go also and they want to win. We want it also. It’s a big thing for everyone. Everyone want trophies.”
