A NEW club is said to be trying to prise away Sadio Mane from Saints - but it's not one of the usual suspects.

According to the Brentwood Gazette, West Ham United are said to be lining up a move for Sadio Mane.

Yes, you did read that right - West Ham United want Sadio Mane.

That's the same Sadio Mane who is said to have a price tag somewhere between £30m and £40m, and has been attracting the attention of Champions League clubs across Europe.

Of course, Ronald Koeman has gone to great lengths to spell out that no first teamers will be leaving St Mary's this January.

He also added that he would not even sell the 23-year-old for £100m during this window.

With the move to the taxpayer-funded Olympic Stadium looming large, the Hammers obviously want to make a statement, but this rumour looks a little optimistic, to say the least.

West Ham are due to be Saints' next home opponents - although exactly when that match will be is not entirely certain.

Mane joined Southampton in an £11.8m move from Red Bull Salzburg in September 2014, scoring ten Premier League goals in his first season.
