VICTOR Wanyama has revealed that he feels hard done by to have been slapped with a five-match ban after his third red card of the season.

The Kenyan international collected his hat-trick of dismissals on Saturday in the 1-0 win over West Ham at St Mary’s.

He will now be suspended until March after becoming the first player in Saints’ post-Second World War history to be sent off three times in one single season.

“I have been unlucky at times you know,” Wanyama told Kenyan news outlet Daily Nation Sport.

“All the cards have come because of mistimed tackles, or so the referee thought. None for violent conduct, abusive language or such a thing.

“Obviously, I am so disappointed because of this outcome and owing to the fact that I won't be playing for a long time.”

The 24-year-old first dismissal came at Bournemouth back in November and, in the space of 13 games, picked up another against Norwich and his latest against the Hammers on Saturday.

Saints boss Ronald Koeman said he’ll hold talks with the former Celtic man.

“I will speak with Victor,” insisted Koeman after the Irons victory.

“I didn’t speak after the game because everybody was so happy about the final result and we have the whole week to analyse the game and to speak about those situations.

“Normally you need to be clever. Of course, we need players like Victor, because they are winning and doing tackles and most of the time it is good for the team.

“Sometimes you can’t take this risk what he took on the pitch in the second half.”
