Victor Wanyama’s move to Tottenham has moved a step closer after Saints agreed an £11m fee with the London club.

The Kenyan midfielder has just one year remaining on his contract, and has shown no intention of signing a new five-year deal which the club have been offering for a number of months.

Instead, Wanyama has set his sights on a move to Spurs to join up with Mauricio Pochettino, the man who brought him to St Mary’s from Celtic for £12m in 2013.

Saints were not prepared to risk losing Wanyama for nothing, and the £11m fee will add an extra boost to the transfer kitty for whoever replaces Ronald Koeman.

Wanyama has made 92 appearances for Saints in all competitions in his three seasons at the club, scoring four goals.
