Inter Milan suffered a shock 2-0 defeat to Hapoel Be'er Sheva at the San Siro in the other match in Saints’ Europa League group.
The Israeli side stunned Group K favourites Inter with goals in the second half from Miguel Vitor and Maor Buzaglo.
Inter left £100m worth of talent out of their Europa League squad and rested many of their first team stars for the game against Be'er Sehva.
Saints face a trip to Hapoel Be'er Sheva next and know victory in Israel would leave them in a fantastic position to make it through to the knockout stages with the double header against Inter then to come.
