I AM not a believer in recycling, having requested information on amounts recycled and energy and fuel saved twice and receiving no reply from New Forest District Council (NFDC) or Hampshire County Council (HCC).

I also recently asked why we cover our estates in crumbling tarmac when the older concrete roads are still intact after 50-60 years – again no reply.

NFDC sent out a letter threatening residents with anti-fly tipping laws if we put our rubbish out early!

To get to the point, I service all our family cars, all four, so accumulate a far amount of used oil. When I have enough to take to the dump I do so, except this time they refused to take more than 10 litres – I had 25!

I can either take it to the dump every 6 months or get a friend to take the other 10 and 5 litres in different cars?

As Littlejohn says, “you can’t make this up”. We are recommended to use the recycling centre as we are fined if we fly tip, but to responsibly dispose of toxic waste we need to follow stupid idiotic quotas.

But then again, that’s what our overpaid councils exist for, to charge us to be ruled by them. What ever happened to public service and intelligent public servants?
