AFC Totton are one game away from promotion to the Vanarama National League South after securing their place in Monday's Southern Premier South Division playoff final.

The Stags required extra time to progress past Bracknell Town with a 2-1 win in the semi-final on Wednesday evening.

The game started rather cagey, with both sides struggling to find their rhythm in the first five minutes.

Bracknell had the first chance through a header which just grazed the crossbar.

Totton would answer back shortly after, Leon Maloney’s cross to Tony Lee, who miscued his header down into the ground.

Bracknell broke free on a counterattack, Hayden Vaughan turning away and driving in-field, unleashing a rocket met by a fantastic Josh Gould save.

The trading of blows continued, Maloney set free in the left channel and forcing Michael Eacott to make a stop. Both sides went into the break at a stalemate, with the score at 0-0.

Business would pick up in the second half, seeing more goalmouth action at the start of the second half.

The Stags would obtain a free kick from 30 yards out and saw Lee piledrive it magnificently into the top right corner to open the scoring.

Just before the conclusion of regulation time, Ralph Vigrass released Gary Abisogun in behind, his right-footed effort bursting through Gould’s gloves for the equaliser.

Totton’s winner came in extra time, Juan Luque clipping a ball over the top for Scott Rendell, squaring to Ethan Taylor who scrambled the ball over the line.

The Stags will meet Salisbury at the Snows Stadium in the playoff final on Monday, May 6 with kick-off at 3pm.
